Lesson Objectives
Revise sound /ch/,/qu/,/sh/ and /ng/ e.g. chat, quack, fish and sing
Students learn to hear the sound and say the sound
Students will learn the differences between the sounds /ch/,/qu/,/sh/ and /ng/
Students will practice listening for the sound in words
Students will learn to segment words into sounds
Students will learn to blend sounds into words

Set Up Classroom
Before the lesson teacher will organise the tables into groups of 4/6 students.
               




    Step 2
Warm Up
Teacher quickly drills sounds /ch/,/qu/,/sh/ and /ng/ with students.

Teacher shows the cards and students say the sounds.

   Step 3
Reviewing the Sounds –   Game 1 “Sound Strike”

Teacher arranges the cans into two groups of 6 
Students will line up in front of the class. The first round is played by the captains and then each student in each team has a turn. Teacher will say a sound and each student must roll the ball towards the cans.

When the ball hits the cans , the student say the phoneme and the point will be given based on how many cans fall down.

  Step 4
Game 2- Snap!
Teacher will give the cards to every group. The students play in group. They take turns to pick cards from the deck and say the words.

When the same cards appear and are read, any group member can call out “Snap!. The student who says “Snap!” must segment the word correctly.

If they segment the word correctly they will get the card. The student that collected the most cards is the winner.

   Step 5
Reviewing the Sounds –Game 3“Sound Strike”

Teacher arranges the bottles into two groups of 2

Students will line up in front of the class. The first round is played by the captains and then each student in each team has a turn. Teacher will say a sound and each student must roll the ball towards the bottles.

When the ball hits the bottles, the student says the phoneme and the point will be given if the bottles fall down.

Game 4- Match Me

Teacher will place the cards on the board

Teacher says the word   -    fish

Student will choose the correct sound card and match it to form the correct word. Teacher will go over the words with each student in every group.

The group that matched the most cards correctly is the winner.
